We begin to study our 7th great grand parents with this couple who lived in Plymouth County in Massachusetts in the 1600s and all of their lives. John and Milicent married in 1658 in Marshfield, Plymouth, Massachusetts. Native Americans lived in Marshfield for thousands of years before the white settlers came. These people included members of the Wampanoag Tribe of the Algonquin nation and members of the Massachusetts Tribe. Evidence of Native American habitation extending back to 9,000 to 10,000 B.C. has been found extensively in the area.

John became a Freeman in 1660. He had lands in Duxbury. He was elected the constable of the General Court in Marshfield in 1661 and served as a juror frequently. John was also a surveyor of the highways. He died a few days short of age 42 in 1679. Milicent married a second time to Thomas Drake in 1682.
