JAMES AND ELEANOR SMALLWOOD YOUNG

These great grandparents lived on Prince Edward Island in Canada. James was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1785. James' first wife, Anna Stewart, died in 1808. There were no children from their marriage.

James married 18 year old Eleanor on the 14th of January in 1809. Eleanor was born in Murray Harbor, Charlottetown, PEI  on the 27th of September in 1790. (The picture above was taken at Murray Harbor in recent years.) James and Eleanor had fourteen children!
1809 Mary
1813 Elizabeth
1816 Violet
1828 Helen, our ancestor
1830 Matilda
Cecilia, George, James, John, Lavinia, Margaret, William, Thomas, and Durenda whose birthdates I do not know.

James had the title of Captain because he was a ship captain who sailed along the Atlantic coastline for a number of years. Eleanor's father was also a captain. I suppose they were in the business of shipping products from place to place.

Eleanor died in 1830 and James died in 1851. They are both buried on Prince Edward Island.
