Margaret Cuppy

Margaret Cuppy was born in Brooke, Virginia on the 15th of January in 1788. At age 22, she married Abraham Huffman of  Hampshire County, Virginia on the 15th of March in 1810. Their first two sons were born in Ohio County, VA. Then the Huffmans moved to Jefferson County, Ohio where their first daughter was born. The next eight children were born where the family settled for  many years, in Clearcreek Twp., Richland, Ohio. Here are the names and births of their eleven children:

Mildred Shepard told me this story about Margaret: "While Margaret was finishing up her doughnut baking one fine spring day, an Indian walked into her kitchen door gazing at her baked goods. With a big smile, he put one doughnut on each of his five fingers of his left  hand, beaming with pleasure at his cleverness, and walked back out the door to show his waiting Indian friends."

Margaret died in 1862 in Ashland, Ashland, Ohio and was buried at the Ashland city cemetery next to her husband, Abraham Huffman.
